The mission of the Opticians Association of Michigan is to encourage the professional development of opticians through education, leadership and legislative representation for the visual well being of the general public.

The Board of Directors

The OAM is headed by a board of directors that is elected by the members of the OAM each year at the annual Spring Convention. The board of directors oversees the efforts of the OAM by holding frequent board meetings and additional meetings of its various committees. The board of directors consists entirely of volunteers who receive no compensation, but are dedicated to the professional advancement of Opticianry.

The board consists of Officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary) and Directors. The Directors and Officers serve terms typically of 3 years until they must be re-elected to the board during the Spring Convention. Committees are formed by the board each year and are tasked with anything from event planning to research or outreach, etc., and the committees consist of board members and OAM members alike.
