Doug Kollar launched his career as an Optician in 1982 and has been working in the optical field ever since. A heart of gold family man, he holds a directorship position on the Opticians Association of Michigan (OAM) board and is very active in the community of Lapeer, Michigan. Currently the Lapeer organization is selling raffle tickets, proceeds to help disadvantaged families in their time of need.
When Doug’s not busy at work, helping on the OAM board or helping out in his community, you can find him on Beaver Island, where he plans to retire. While on Beaver Island he does not just relax. He also helps out with providing glasses to those in need of vision care on the Island. Thank you, Doug, for putting your heart and soul into your profession and your community.
Hereʼs whatʼs happening in Michigan!
The Optician Association of Michigan hosts two Educational conferences a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. The conferences give opticians the opportunity to network with other opticians in the state and many vendors in the optical industry. It also keeps Opticians informed of changes in our industry and hones their skills through continuing education. By being a member of OAM, you can get up to 8 hours of free ABO certified courses.
The OAM board is working hard to reach out to all opticians through social media. We feel that social media is an important tool in keeping Opticians aware of all that is happening in our industry. What we do and what we know is important.
