The Opticians Association of Michigan (OAM) proudly celebrates the success of our 2025 Annual Convention, held April 12–13 in Lansing—an event that proved our community of opticians are true everyday heroes.
With a fun and energizing Superhero theme, the convention reminded us that opticians aren’t just professionals—they’re protectors of vision, champions of clarity, and defenders of patient care. Attendees embraced the spirit, making the weekend not only educational but truly inspirational.
This year’s convention welcomed over 100 attendees and featured 30+ vendors, all brought together by our shared mission:
To enhance the professional advancement of opticians for the benefit of the patients we serve.
Our educational sessions were the core of the event, offering ABO-approved continuing education credits that help opticians stay sharp and current in their field. We were honored to welcome Carrie Wilson as our keynote speaker, whose passionate message empowered attendees to embrace their roles as vision-care heroes.
Joining her were our expert educators—George Bourque, Aarlan Aceto, Bob Alexander, Jenny Webb, and Jenny Block—who delivered dynamic, high-impact sessions across a wide range of topics. Their dedication to education and patient care is what makes them true leaders in our field.
The vibrant vendor hall added to the energy, showcasing innovations and resources to help our members elevate their practices and their patient service.
Whether you came in costume or simply brought your super skills, this convention was a celebration of our strength as a community and the lives we impact every day.
